CorpusIQ vs Microsoft Copilot: What Each One Does¶
Microsoft Copilot works inside the Microsoft 365 stack. CorpusIQ is the layer that gives AI assistants live access to your business data across 40+ tools, including non-Microsoft systems. The two do different jobs, and CorpusIQ does not connect to Copilot: Copilot has no MCP connector, so there is nothing on its side to attach to.
Quick comparison¶
| Capability | Microsoft Copilot | CorpusIQ |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | AI assistance inside Microsoft 365 apps | Cross-source business answers in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity |
| Data access | Its own index of your Microsoft 365 content | 40+ business connectors across accounting, analytics, CRM, and ads |
| AI surface | Copilot inside Word, Excel, and Teams | Any MCP-capable assistant you already use |
| Answer format | Native reports | Source-cited plain-English answers |
| Data stored | Your records | Live retrieval, scoped retention, no raw customer files or full payloads |
When to use Microsoft Copilot alone¶
Microsoft Copilot is the right system for AI assistance inside Microsoft 365 apps. It is built for that job and does it well. If that is your only need, Microsoft Copilot is the answer.
When to add CorpusIQ¶
The pain starts when your business runs beyond Microsoft. Copilot knows your documents and email. The numbers that decide your month live elsewhere: Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, GA4, Google Ads.
CorpusIQ connects those systems and exposes them to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. Ask "what is our real profit after Shopify fees and ad spend" and get a cited answer that spans your store, your books, and your ad accounts.
For the Microsoft piece, CorpusIQ works inside Microsoft Teams, where you add your own AI key and point it at the assistant you already use.
FAQ¶
Does CorpusIQ replace Microsoft Copilot?¶
No. Microsoft Copilot stays your system of record for its job. CorpusIQ answers cross-source questions from the systems Copilot does not read, and it does not read Copilot either.
Can I use Microsoft Copilot data in ChatGPT today?¶
Not through CorpusIQ. Copilot has no MCP connector, so there is no supported path for us to read from it. You can ask ChatGPT a business question against the connectors you do have, such as Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, GA4, and Google Ads, and get an answer with citations.
Is my data safe?¶
External-source retrieval is read-only. No retained raw customer files or full connector payloads; operational logs and indexes are disclosed separately. CASA Tier 2 certified by DEKRA, hosted on Microsoft Azure.
