Claude reads authorized business records through CorpusIQ's read-only external-source retrieval connectors. Direct MCP does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational query text, per-user tool-call metadata, and bounded outcome summaries may be retained for up to 30 days. Optional indexed search keeps embeddings and minimal metadata until connector revocation or account deletion. Anthropic's plan policy governs Claude conversation handling. Every answer includes a cited link to the underlying record.

The advertised external-source retrieval tools let Claude list, read, and quote authorized records. They do not modify, send, move, or delete. Separately named CorpusIQ control-plane tools, the only tools that accept writes, carry their own annotations and act on your CorpusIQ configuration.
Every answer Claude returns through CorpusIQ includes a source link back to the underlying record. The cited URL is the operator's auditable trail. If Claude misreads a record, the operator can click the link and see the actual source.
Conversations themselves live with Anthropic per the Claude product you are using (Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Claude Code, Claude for Work). CorpusIQ does not retain the prompts or the answers; those stay between the operator and Anthropic. Always review the assistant vendor's data policy for your specific plan.
