An MCP gateway is a single entry point that sits between an AI assistant and the MCP servers it can call. Every request from the assistant passes through the gateway, which authenticates the caller, decides which servers it may reach, and records what was read. Instead of each assistant holding its own credentials to each system, the gateway holds one governed path to all of them. CorpusIQ connects your business systems to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity through per-account authorization, and every answer carries a citation.

A gateway is not a server and not a client. It sits in front of the servers and behind the clients. The assistant is the client, the systems you connect are the servers, and the gateway is the single door in between. Every question the assistant sends to a connected system goes through that door, and the gateway decides whether the request may pass, which server it reaches, and what gets logged. One door, many rooms, one record of who walked through.
Without a gateway, each assistant holds credentials to each system separately, and you manage them one by one. Add a second assistant or a second system and the number of credentials multiplies. A gateway collapses that to one governed path: one place to authenticate, one place to decide access, one place to revoke it. When access must stop, you cut it once at the door instead of hunting through every system. The security question is not whether a gateway adds speed, it is whether you can see and stop access in one place.
Two different jobs. The gateway governs the path: who may connect, what they may reach, what is recorded. The execution layer does the work behind it: it runs the tools, reads the data, and returns the result. A gateway does not answer your business question and an execution layer does not decide who may ask. A system can have both, and the cleanest setups name them separately, so the part that controls access and the part that does the work are not the same machine.
Four checks. That access is scoped per connected system instead of granted once. That the tools you reach are read-only, or that any write-capable tool is clearly named before it is used. That every answer carries a citation to the record it came from, so a number can be verified before it is acted on. And that you can disconnect a system at any time and see when connections happened.
CorpusIQ connects 40+ business tools to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity through per-account authorization, and every connection is read-only access. Ask a question in plain English and the assistant reads the systems you connected, then answers with figures that link back to the records they came from. It does not create campaigns, change bids or budgets, send email, or edit records in the systems you connect. Start with one question that matters and connect only the systems that hold the answer.
