Ahrefs holds the best answers in SEO and hides them behind a dozen reports. Backlinks live in one place, organic keywords in another, and competitor comparisons in a third. Each has its own filters.
Connect Ahrefs to Perplexity through CorpusIQ and the question becomes the interface. You type what you want to know about a site, and the answer comes back with the numbers behind it.
The problem with the current workflow
A simple question like "who links to my competitor but not to me" means opening a link intersect view, choosing domains, setting filters and exporting a list. Checking your domain rating next month means logging in again to find the same number.
So link audits happen quarterly, when someone has a free afternoon. Keyword checks happen when a client asks. The gaps widen in between.
How CorpusIQ solves it
CorpusIQ exposes Ahrefs to Perplexity through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools. Perplexity can read your backlink profile, organic keywords, top pages and competitor data, for your site or any other domain you name.
Read-only. Perplexity cannot start projects, alerts or crawls, or change anything in Ahrefs.
Cited. Answers carry the Ahrefs figures they came from, so you can check them.
Revocable. Disconnect in CorpusIQ at any time.
What to ask
Paste these into Perplexity once Ahrefs is connected.
- "Which organic keywords drive the most traffic to my domain?"
- "How many referring domains link to my site?"
- "What are my strongest backlinks by authority?"
- "What is my domain rating right now?"
- "Who links to my top competitor but not to me?"
- "Which pages on my site earn the most backlinks?"
- "Which of my top pages by traffic have the fewest backlinks?"
- "Break down my backlinks by link type."
Follow-ups work. Ask for top keywords, pick one landing page, then ask which sites link to it.
Example report: top organic keywords
This is the shape of answer you get for the first question. The numbers are illustrative.
Which organic keywords drive the most traffic to my domain?
- 5keywords showntop by estimated traffic
- 6,900estimated monthly organic visitsfrom these five
- 3keywords above 1,000 visits
What to act on: Three keywords carry most of the traffic. Check which landing pages they point to and whether those pages also earn the links.
Source: Ahrefs, read-only. Numbers are illustrative.
Pair it with a CorpusIQ skill
The connector answers questions. Skills turn answers into a routine. The Competitive Intelligence Brief tracks what competitors change on their own sites, including positioning, pricing and product moves. Run it next to an Ahrefs pull and you can set what a rival changed beside who started linking to them.

Where this earns its keep
Link building and content planning both start with the same two lists: who links to whoever outranks you, and which keywords already send you visits. Asking for both in a few minutes changes how often you look. A monthly pull of domain rating and referring domains also gives you a trend line without a spreadsheet you have to maintain.
Agencies checking several sites and in-house teams with one site use it the same way. The question changes, the workflow does not.
What to watch out for
Organic traffic in Ahrefs is an estimate, not a count of visits. Treat it as a way to rank keywords against each other. Domain rating is Ahrefs' own score, not a Google metric, so use it to compare sites and track your own movement rather than as a target. And ask for the same set of numbers each time you check, so month-to-month changes mean something.
