Instagram Insights shows you a lot and compares almost nothing. You can open one post at a time. Ranking last month's posts by reach, or setting reels next to feed posts, means tapping through each one and keeping score in a notes app.
Connect Instagram to Perplexity through CorpusIQ and the ranking becomes a single question. Perplexity reads your account when you ask and answers with the posts behind each number.
The problem with the current workflow
Insights is built for checking a post you just published. It is weak at the questions that shape a content plan. Which format earns more reach. Which posts got saved, not just liked. What people keep asking in the comments.
So the plan runs on gut feel and the last post that did well. Comment questions, often the best product research you have, scroll past unread.
How CorpusIQ solves it
CorpusIQ exposes Instagram to Perplexity through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools. Perplexity can read the business accounts you manage, your posts and reels with captions, media-level reach, impressions, likes, saves and shares, account-level audience insights and follower trends, and the comments on your posts.
Read-only. Perplexity cannot publish, reply, hide comments or send messages.
Live. Each question reads Instagram when you ask.
Revocable. Disconnect in CorpusIQ or remove access from your Meta account settings.
What to ask
Paste these into Perplexity once Instagram is connected.
- "Which Instagram posts got the most reach last month?"
- "How does reel reach compare to feed posts on my account?"
- "What are people asking in the comments on my latest reel?"
- "How many followers did my account gain this month?"
- "Which posts had the highest save and share counts?"
- "What is my average engagement rate over the last 30 days?"
- "Which Instagram business accounts do I manage, and how do they compare on follower growth?"
Follow-ups work. Ask for last month's top posts by reach, pick the best one, then ask what people said in its comments.

Pair it with a CorpusIQ skill
The connector answers questions. Skills turn the answers into a routine. The Instagram Growth Auditor skill reviews follower growth, content mix and engagement rate, and the Social Comment Responder skill drafts replies to recent comments for you to post yourself.

Where this earns its keep
Brands that post several times a week get the most from it. A monthly pull of top posts, saves and comment themes turns a feed into a short list of formats to repeat and questions worth answering in your next post.
What to watch out for
Your account must be a business or creator account linked to a Facebook Page, because that is how Meta exposes insights. Reach and engagement rate depend on how each is counted, so compare periods within the same account, not against other accounts. A single viral post can skew a monthly average, so check the ranked list before trusting the mean.

FAQ
Does CorpusIQ store my Instagram data?
Direct MCP does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational logs may persist for up to 30 days. CorpusIQ does not train models on customer data; the selected AI client's plan and settings govern conversation handling.
Can Perplexity post or reply on Instagram?
No. The connection is read-only. Perplexity can read posts, reels, insights and comments. It cannot publish, edit or delete posts, reply to, hide or delete comments, send direct messages or follow accounts.
Do I need an Instagram business account?
Yes. Instagram exposes media insights only for business and creator accounts connected to a Facebook Page. A purely personal account does not expose the insights this connector reads.
What plan do I need?
