How to Connect Google Search Console to ChatGPT with CorpusIQ MCP

Google Search Console answers a narrow question well: which pages and queries earned visibility, and how that changed. Reading it usually means opening the property, picking a date range, switching dimensions, exporting a table, and rebuilding the same view next month. Connecting Search Console to ChatGPT through CorpusIQ MCP replaces that loop. You authorize read-only access once, ask in plain English, and get an answer with the numbers and the source attached.

Direct MCP retrieval is read-only and does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads; operational query logs are retained for up to 30 days.

What Questions Can You Ask?

  • "Which pages lost the most clicks month over month?"
  • "What queries have impressions but a position worse than 20?"
  • "Show me the top 10 queries for /pricing over the last 90 days."
  • "Compare mobile and desktop CTR for the same pages."
  • "Which countries drove the most impressions last quarter?"

The point is not a prettier report. It is a question you could not answer before without exporting three tables and joining them by hand.

FAQ: Common Questions

Which Search Console properties can I connect? Both property types are supported: URL-prefix properties and Domain properties. The property you pick during authorization is the one the assistant reads. If you own several properties, connect the one that carries the traffic you care about, or connect more than one if you need a portfolio view.
How much history is available? The Search Console API exposes roughly 16 months of performance data. Anything older has to come from your own archive. Fresh data also arrives with a short delay, which is normal for Search Console and not something the connector can remove.
Is this read-only? Can ChatGPT change my property settings? Yes, read-only. The connector requests the read scope for search performance data. Nothing in the retrieval path can edit settings, submit sitemaps, or change verification. Write-capable management tools, where present, are separately named and annotated.
How is this different from exporting a Search Console report? An export is a snapshot with the dimensions you chose before you knew what you were looking for. A live MCP query picks the dimensions from the question. You can ask a follow-up that changes the date range, the dimension, or the segment without rebuilding anything.
Can I combine Search Console with Google Analytics or Ads? Yes, and this is where it earns its place. "Which queries brought traffic that converted?" needs Search Console for the query layer and Analytics or Ads for the outcome. With both connected, that is one question instead of a spreadsheet join. See [MCP for Marketing](mcp-for-marketing.md) for the full pattern.
Does it work for agency accounts with many properties? Each CorpusIQ user authorizes their own Google account, so an agency can connect a client property under the client's permission set. Access follows the Google account you authorize with. Revoking that account's access in Google ends the connector's reach immediately.
What about large result sets? Search Console returns paged responses. The connector follows the pages so an answer is not quietly capped at the first screen of rows. If a question spans a very large export, narrow it with a date range or a page filter first.
Where is my data stored? It is not. Retrieval happens on demand against the live API. CorpusIQ does not retain raw customer files or full connector response payloads. Operational query logs may persist for up to 30 days. See our [security documentation](../security/) for the detail.

How It Works

  1. You sign in to CorpusIQ and connect Google Search Console.
  2. Google shows its consent screen. You approve the read scope for the property you want.
  3. You add the CorpusIQ MCP server to ChatGPT. See the Quick Start guide.
  4. ChatGPT discovers the Search Console tools and calls them when a question needs search data.
  5. Every answer cites the property, the date range, and the dimensions used.

Setup Guide

  1. Sign up at corpusiq.io -- the 30-day trial needs no credit card.
  2. Connect Search Console. Dashboard, Connections, Google Search Console, then choose the property and approve.
  3. Connect ChatGPT. Add the CorpusIQ MCP server per the Quick Start guide.
  4. Verify. Ask "How many clicks did the site get last month?" and check the answer against the Search Console UI.
  5. Explore. Then ask the question you actually care about: what decayed, what is close to page one, what converted.
