How to Connect Google Sheets to ChatGPT with CorpusIQ MCP

FAQ: Common Questions

Is this read-only? Yes. The connector reads spreadsheets and leaves them untouched. It cannot edit cells, add rows, or change sharing. If a workflow needs a write path, that is a separate decision with a separate credential.
Which spreads come through, the whole file or a tab? You point the connector at a spreadsheet and it can read its tabs and ranges. For a large workbook, naming the tab in the question gives the tightest, fastest answer: "the FY26 budget tab" rather than "the budget file".
Do merged cells and formulas break it? Formulas are read as their computed values, which is what you want. Merged cells and multi-row headers are the usual source of a wrong answer, because the header no longer labels the right column. If a sheet is heavily formatted, adding a clean tab with a single header row fixes it in a minute.
Can it combine sheets with QuickBooks or Stripe? Yes, and this is the strongest use for a Sheets connector. The budget lives in a sheet and the actuals live in QuickBooks. "Compare budget to actual by category for last quarter" is one question across both, instead of a manual reconciliation.
Does my whole Drive get exposed? No. The Sheets connector reads spreadsheet data. Drive appears as a separate connector, and Google's consent screen lists the read-only permissions being requested (Drive, Sheets, Gmail, Analytics and the rest of the Google surfaces you enable) for you to approve in one place. You can revoke any of them later from your Google Account security settings. Connect only what a question would actually use.
How current is the data? Live. When you ask, the connector reads the sheet as it stands. If someone typed a number a minute ago, the next question sees it.
What about shared sheets owned by someone else? Access follows the Google account you authorize with. If that account can open the sheet, the connector can read it. If the sheet is shared as a link with restricted access, that restriction still applies.
